Blackman Limited Edition Silk Screen-prints

To make Silk screen graphics the artist use a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil to receive a desired image. The attached stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer ink or other printable materials which can be pressed through the mesh as a sharp-edged image onto a substrate.

A fill blade or squeegee is moved across the screen stencil, forcing ink through the mesh openings to wet the substrate during the squeegee stroke, as the screen rebounds away from the substrate the ink remains on the substrate.

It is also known as silkscreen, serigraphy, and serigraph printing. One color is printed at a time, so several screens can be used to produce a multicoloured designed image.

Artists recognize the value of limiting the edition size. Because of the variation in quality, lower-numbered prints in an edition are favored as the most superior.

hand-made-Graphics
Unlike photographic reproduction, Limited edition Graphics are hand-made by the
artist. These Graphics created in a hand-made artistic process are original and authentic Limited edition graphics like: Collagraph, etching, silk screen-prints and lithography.

Giclee Print is made by a strictly mechanical process. They are photographic reproductions of the paintings or graphics, essentially in the same category as a picture in a book or magazine, though better printed and on better paper. These may be marketed as 'limited editions' and advertised as alleged investment potential (rarely realized), and even signed and numbered by the artist.
