Tessa Perceval b.1947 biography

Tessa Perceval born in Melbourne in 1947, is the eldest daughter of John Perceval and wife Mary Boyd (sister of Arthur Boyd), now Lady Nolan.

Tessa's father, John de Burgh Perceval AO (1923-2000) was a very famous Australian artist and the last surviving member of a group known as the Angry Penguins who redefined Australian art in the 1940s.

Other members included Arthur Boyd, David Boyd, John and Sunday Reed, Joy Hester, Sidney Nolan and Albert Tucker.

TESSA PERCEVAL Biography Tessa Perceval b.1947, Bluebells in Spring Woods, South Wales in Afternoon Light

Tessa Perceval spent her childhood in Melbourne enjoying the family background of painting and pottery before going to London with her family in 1963. Upon the family returned to Australia in 1965 she began painting professionally.

Tessa held her first solo exhibition in London in 1971 and since then she has exhibited widely in Australia and England. Throughout her career spanning 40 years as a landscape painter she has travelled extensively, painting on location in Australia, England, France, Italy, Holland, Spain, Corfu, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Tessa’s work is in many private collections internationally and in public collections in Australia. She now lives in with her husband and two sons in Herefordshire on the South Wales Border returning to Australia periodically.
