Milan
Miscovic was born in Yugoslavia in 1952, and arrived in Australia in
1989. Miskovic 's extensive experience with painting restoration has
provided a strong background in understanding his medium and thus his
mixes his own pigments as well as prepares and finishes canvases in the
tradition of old Italian masters. He has an interesting career as an interior restorer of historic
buildings. Miscovic worked ten years in Paris as conservator as well as
an artist. Miskovic participated in many exhibitions while living in
France.
Miskovic 's exceptional
understanding of technique is evident in his work that has been seen by
the shifting light that he achieves. Miskovic brings a contemporary
approach to his work with his way to build texture and colour. He
focuses on Australian landscapes, nudes and abstract paintings, captured
organic nature of the subject, space and colour, interspersed with
symbolism that incorporates the mythical and spiritual dimension of art
interpreted by the artist.
Miskovic 's palette continues to play a
crucial and a times humorous role in his work following emphasising
form, colour and texture that is subtle yet complex. He has been shown
at the Alta gallery, the Yugoslavian consulate, Penrith gallery, the 5th
Folr gallery, Beaux arts ball 2002 at Sheraton on the park in Sydney,
Hill on Hargrave gallery in Paddington, Bondi Wadi gallery, Tap gallery,
Antiques on Consignment Lydie Du Bray, Braemar gallery and Galeria
Aniela in Kangaroo Valley. More recently Miscovic has been restoring the Egyptian church
and GPO building in Sydney. |
