Gary Laird career as a successful artist began in 1976 with a major solo exhibition at Primrose Lane Gallery, Cronulla, NSW Australia. Laird is best known for his contemporary interpretation of the Australian landscape conveying its textures, climate, light and atmosphere. His current favored medium is acrylic though is also noted for his works in oil and watercolor. His work is represented in private, corporate and government collections throughout Australia and overseas. He has been the recipient of numerous art awards during 1997 - 98 he completed major commissions for OPTUS, Australian telecommunications giant
